ARTISTS & AUTHORS

Creative people are often the hardest to photograph and the most rewarding.

There is something particular about photographing someone whose entire practice is about making things visible: a painter, a writer, a musician. They are perceptive. They notice the camera, the light, the intention behind it. A formulaic session doesn't work.

I photograph artists and writers because I understand their world. As an art appraiser and artist, I am someone who has spent years inside studios, galleries, and the spaces where creative work happens, I come to these sessions not as an outside observer but as someone already inside the conversation.

What I am looking for is not a pose. It is the moment when you forget the camera : when you are simply yourself, in your element, thinking.

That is where the real portrait lives.
